The bearer of light
arrives to blind us;

to show us everything material
is all we'll ever have,
all we'll ever be;

to teach us how to be enslaved,
of seductions, addictions,
of countless afflictions;

to instruct us in doubt
in all that cannot be touched
or seen;

to give us the easy way out
of everything;

to seed distrust,
greed, and lust

beware!
his light is artificial
it draws us in
like moth to flame.
And burn we will
from cravings ill.

Only the blind

shall truly see
in times of trial
when all our senses are defiled.
