"CHUSHKOPEK - PEPPER BAKER"
original poem by Rumen Ivanchev

 

Singing Russian songs aloud,
Old Granny stuffs thick peppers round
with trembling hands and jumping heart
in a red-heated tube to bake them right
then takes them out whole and sound
burned and blackened - just the type
on a terrace meant for a noble
for a pickles named 'for the king'.

 

Sizzle-sizzle, smoke is thick
barefoot children jumping quick
(they are here from just a night,
fresh off the Vienna flight)

 

'Was ist das?' one points and stares,
the ball is now as dull as never
Answer is as swift as air:
'This, my love is pepper baker!'
The other laughs "ha-ha-ha Papa baka
But what is this?'

 

Sizzle-Sizzle, smoke is thick
children's questions get lightning quick
Today even the good old pepper baker
turned into a culture trekker!

Тананикайки частушки,
баба тика едри чушки
със трепереща ръчичка
в реотанова тръбичка,
и след това ги вади цели,
апетитно обгорели
на тераса господарска
за туршия с име - "Царска".

 

Църка-пърка, дим се носи...
Скачат внучетата боси
(те са тук от два-три дена,
долетели от Виена.)

 

- Was ist das? - едното пита,
спряло топката да рита.
Отговорът й е лек:
- Това е, Васе, чушкопек!
Прихва другото: кис-кис!
Уш- кюпек! But what is this?

 

Църка-пърка, дим се носи,
парят детските въпроси...
Днес и чушкопекът прост
служи за културен мост!

 

Бележка: преводът е отпреди две години :) (правен малко на майтап, ама днес Фейса ми го припомни, та реших да го споделя)
